Welcome to AddisBits: A creative digital design school for talented underprivileged youth living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Unemployment of youth has become a major global concern and has contributed to poverty, discontent, alienation, social unrest, conflict, and urban migration, all of which hinder economic growth and threaten political stability. For these reasons attention to the employment situation of youth has become an urgent issue.
AddisBits works with
DOT Ethiopia's community based organizations (CBOs) in the informal settlement areas to select the participants for the e-learning program. These organizations are assessed by
DOT Ethiopia's and selection of students is made in order to provide a service that will add value to the community.
AddisBits e-learning has its training method broken down into three components: knowledge transfer, skills and attitude. Transferring knowledge is done by e-learning. Skill-training can partly be done by e-learning and project based learning while influencing attitudes is done through the life skills curriculum provided by the trainer throughout the course.
Vision
AddisBits envisages Ethiopian youth making positive contributions towards a balanced society through creative and innovative use of multi media in technology.
